Through visual layering, the exhibition explores the depths of the concept of passage – a complex web of theoretical and practical interpretations of the word. In György Gáti’s work, the superimposition of layers becomes a metaphor: fragments of the reality that the images are based on, abandoned advertising surfaces, spaces that no longer advertise but are still present, take on new meaning.
With his new visual world, the artist shows that emptiness can also be transformed; behind passivity lurk active structures that open up new dimensions. The fusion of visual layers in the images further enhances the multiplicity of meanings. The superimposed textures and colours enter into a dialogue with each other, while transitions take place not only between visual elements but also at the boundaries of visual reality and fiction.
