The members of the Hungarian Poster Society set out to commemorate the emblematic works of Victor Vasarely, considered the creator of an independent artistic movement – op-art – and the abstract geometric thinking inseparable from his name, using the tools of contemporary poster art. The group, founded by József Árendás, Ferenc Baráth, Krzysztof Ducki, István Orosz, Sándor Pinczehelyi and Péter Pócs, has since grown to nearly forty members and was set up to explore the applicability of the mediums specific language to the visual culture of the new century, while preserving the traditions and spirit of Hungarian and universal poster art. The Hungarian Poster Society, founded in 2004, has since then successfully exhibited at several venues in Hungary and abroad.
