The exhibition in the PhotoLab space will showcase Benedek Regős’s earlier works and newer works created exclusively for this exhibition. In several of his projects, Regős deals with photography as a means of reproduction.
The exhibition in Szentendre continues and expands the themes of the 2018 solo exhibition White Balance, set in the context of the local artistic heritage and the rich collection of the Ferenczy Museum Centre.
It explores the problematic of the unique art object and its photographic reproduction and distribution, highlighting the contradictions of photographic reproduction, the “impersonal” accuracy expected from the technical image and the role of the creative processes behind it.
His work addresses the role of photography in our knowledge of art history, the different stages of the reproduction process, and the physical manifestations of the ‘finished’ reproduction.
