After graduating from the DLA in Pécs, István Losonczy started to paint a series of coherent rainbow colours with the same tonal value, through a series of colour shades, in the Colour Force Masterclass founded by Ilona Keserű in 2007.
Since then she has continued to develop and apply this system or colour mixing principle in the most varied ways she can. The pre-tuned elements of the colour palette are now filled into hermetically sealed empty tin tubes, both because they can compete more effectively with the drying time of oil paint and because the ‘colour organ’, which currently consists of 180 tubes, can be used to great effect to practice and develop other painting techniques, even those that allow greater scope for spontaneity.
The paintings in the exhibition opening at the K.A.S. Gallery are new works from 2023. Visitors will also be able to see the one and a half by one and a half metre scale, which was featured at this year’s Innsbruck International Art Fair and has not yet been exhibited in Hungary. The material in the exhibition Colour=Space is the result of research carried out over the last few years.
