Fire is an elemental experience of Márton Závorszky-Simon (1988), both as a symbol of the spirit in his art and as an expression of his physical pain: the artist has been living with autoimmune arthritis since the age of twenty-four.

At the beginning of his career, in 2008, he painted his expressive apocalyptic landscapes using traditional oil on canvas techniques, and later, in 2021, he began to paint with fire itself, deconstructing his paintings with soot or open flames.

In the style of the photographic works on canvas presented in this exhibition, the most recent works in his oeuvre, we can observe a process of reinterpretation of the personal: Závorszky projects the tragic in life into landscape and floral metaphors.

In these works, destruction becomes part of the work through the dramatic process of deformation by fire, but with the possibility of hope appearing on the surfaces left free.
