Fehér not only transforms the figures seen on a photograph, he not only reduces the details or blows up accidental motifs into monumental ones, but he discovers a new world in an everyday spectacle, a world we cannot shrug off right from the moment he discovered it.

Men lying around on a riverbank, a child swimming alongside its mother, or the girl climbing up a steep cliff – they are all figures frozen into their own eternity. Remembering death has been one of the grand themes of European art since the Romans. László Fehér continues this tradition without becoming melodramatic or sentimental.
