Károly Szabó’s installation #firstsupper, in which we find the table and the food set for dinner. However, the chairs are missing from the table setting and the cutlery is not on the table. The food is no less surprising. Slices of bread with coloured crusts cast in concrete. On the slices, a phrase, modifiers, negatives, question marks (e.g., did, could, doubtless, even, not).

All of this vagueness can be very misleading, sometimes creating peace, sometimes conflict, tension. Phrases thrown at each other can carry multiple meanings, depending on their pronunciation and context. The installation deliberately does not evoke a single specific story, but rather juxtaposes elements that generate a multiplicity of stories. The situation is further compounded by the title of the work, #firstsupper, which suggests that the participants presumably know little or nothing about each other, at least not from personal experience.
