What does the Context class want?

(The fourth Context class)

A free program offered by the CEU Institute for Democracy and the Department of Fine Arts for university students in any field of study, starting in September 2024. Artistic thinking and social engagement at CEU’s Nádor u. 15 building and other venues.

Contemporary themes and challenges, artistic practices. Current social issues, historical and cultural contexts. Rapidly shifting themes and activities, ongoing artistic work.

The Context Program consists of 6 + 1 sessions; the seventh is a presentation of the collaborative artistic works completed during the semester. One intensive afternoon and evening every two weeks, featuring lectures, workshops, and special activities.

Context Flag (Tibor Hajas: Flag)

As part of its spring 2026 research and artistic project, the Context class reinterpreted, among other works, Tibor Hajas’s 1974 (elsewhere cited as 197475) piece titled Flag, and will install it at its original sitehaving convinced the owner of the property, which currently operates as a guesthouse.

4:00–4:30 PM
30-minute guided tour, flag-raising ceremony, photo session. Meet in front of 2 Ferenciek Square (sharp start; latecomers will not be able to participate).

5:00–5:30 PM
30-minute guided tour, flag unveiling, photo session. Meet in front of Ferenciek tere 2 (sharp start; latecomers will not be able to participate). After the tour, we will take the flag to the CEU Open Gallery on a street walk with the participants.
