The exhibition takes the viewer into a magical world that is at once structured, geometric and systematic, yet playful, silly and decorative – a true visual adventure. Dots running in a thread grid, weavings drawn in tiny lines, sheets of paper with tiny holes punched in them.
In more than a hundred drawings and paintings by Károly Keserü, the great artists of the 20th century, the painter’s intellectual relatives, meet to exchange ideas with the artist and the viewer.
The title of the exhibition, Around and around: from Debrecen to Debrecen.
His paintings have travelled even further, visiting countries, galleries and museums all over the world, from Australia to America, from England to Japan. Károly Keserü’s retrospective exhibition in Debrecen is a survey of the artist’s first three decades.
