The art of Zoltán Ötvös pulses between the shifting forms of landscapes. However, his art never follows external expectations or the wish to comply. His landscapes may be impressions rich in emotions and formed along the delicate technical solutions of watercolours, or oil paintings following and reconstructing the structure of landscapes carrying the personality of the painter; they may be specific, summarising, analysing or additive experiences of life and landscape, but also visions of abstraction taken to the extreme where symbolic contents are explained. We can choose any of the above, but there is one ultimate answer without any alternatives: for Ötvös, painting, artistic tasks and the joy of painting serve the purpose of finding fullness. Finding his home in existence.
