In Ukraine: war scars is an exhibition featuring a selection of war works by Ukrainian photographers Maksim Dongyuk and Yana Kononova, who have been documenting Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine since February 2022.
Dongyuk and Kononova have developed a uniquely empathetic perspective, depicting the war in a disarmingly direct way, confronting destruction and death. Though the energy of their works is very different, juxtaposed they complement each other like yin and yang, while singing a polyphonic dirge of one of the greatest crimes against humanity in modern history.
