An exhibition of Victor Vasarely’s own exhibition posters from the French Fabre collection. A thematic exhibition dedicated to this medium has never been organised anywhere else.
The exhibited works are based on the artist’s so-called “prototype”, formulated in 1955. The exhibited works reflect on the artist’s “Yellow Manifesto”, written in 1955, by projecting Victor Vasarely’s theses onto a single medium, underlining the philosophical significance of “recreation, multiplication, expansion”, the aesthetic value of reproduction in modern art, while also addressing the problem of the original and the copy, and pointing to the role of this question in Vasarely’s own working method.
