Perception is a cognitive activity based on sensory data. Perception is the totality of the psychological processes by which perceptions from environmental stimuli are recognized, organized, and given meaning. Our perception is significantly influenced by our prior experience, knowledge, current mood, needs, interests, and the culture in which we live. Perception is a process used to understand sensual information and to realize awareness.
“Perception” as a name comes from a Latin word, perceptio, or percipio, which means inclusion; collection; occupation; perception with reason, with mind. Cognitive science (scientifically called cognitology) deals with cognitive processes. Fragmented, confused, or even diffuse perception makes it difficult to form a clear image, a unified thought. The presence of fragmented perceptions is present on the inhibitory rock blocks of our own consciousness due to our shattering perception. The other reason is the often opaque mass of impulses flowing towards us from the outside world, which is an extraordinary task to filter.
I invited the artists to reflect on the “Fragmented Perceptions” suggestion with works created according to their own perception of reality for the purpose of describing our present.
