Zsuzsa G. Heller, ceramicist and sculptor, has been working on the Tower of Babel for decades.

Again and again she returns to a non-figurative form, which since ancient times has been a symbol of human longing and aspiration to heights. Man is constantly building his inner Babel, but it can never be finished.

In addition to the spiritual background, the tower also has a great deal of plastic potential, which is why each Babel sculpture is so different. In terms of shaping, he is interested in ultimate simplicity: he creates an extremely simple porcelain sculpture reminiscent of an ancient pyramid, complete with wall paintings. It is not the external glamour, the literal ‘glaze’, that is important, but the simplistic but extremely powerful form.

The exhibition will also feature recent works that showcase the dynamics of self-recurring spiral forms patterned in porcelain.
